Many district services are provided by OMD Staff and OMD/UUA Consultants who are paid through the Fair Share contributions of our congregations.  There is no additional fee to the congregations.

Services provided by Adjunct Consultants do require a fee and are charged according to guidelines established by the UU Ministers’ Association and comparable fees charged by other Districts. These are for services arranged through district staff. If you make arrangements with a consultant on your own, you are fully responsible for all fees, expenses and direct payment.

Many services (other than Pulpit Supply) are charged by the ‘unit.’ One unit is defined as a third of a day - a morning, an afternoon, or an evening. A typical evening workshop, for example, might be $150. A Board or Search Committee Retreat might be $300 for the day (1 day = 2 units). Workshops or extended consultations that require additional preparation, congregational assessment and/or follow up may be more. Please see the Pulpit Supply/Guest in Your Pulpit page for more information about Sunday services.

Congregations that are Full Share to the District and Fair Share to the UUA Annual Program Fund (for the most recently completed fiscal year - see list here) receive a 33% discount for most Adjunct Consultant services (other than Pulpit Supply).  For example, an Adjunct Consultant fee of $300 would only be $200 for a Full Fair Share congregation.

Fees are paid to the District other than for Pulpit Supply, where honorarium and mileage are paid by the congregation directly to the speaker.  The District then pays the Adjunct Consultant honorarium and reimburses for travel costs.

Adjunct Consultants receive an honorarium and reimbursement for travel within District policy.  If overnight lodging is necessary, these costs are paid by the congregation.   Home hospitality may be provided if agreeable to the consultant.  Home hospitality might not be appropriate in some consulting situations, however.

Adjunct Consultants file for reimbursement by submitting a standard expense report to the District office within 45 days of completion of service.

Congregations that have not contributed their Full Share to the District and their Fair Share to the UUA Annual Program Fund (for the most recently completed fiscal year) pay full honorarium fees.   The District will still cover mileage. To see the current fair share list for this fiscal year, visit the fair share page.
