Attendance: Phil Reed (president), Debra Boyd (vice president), Laura Howe (secretary), Ward Kelsey (treasurer), Claire Ramsay (trustee), Rev. Rose Edington (trustee), Charlie Applebaum (trustee), Sharon Eckert (trustee), David Petras (trustee), Rev. Matt Alspaugh (trustee), Rev. Minutes:
The OMD Board will adopt the UUA Ends dated 10/18/2009 to guide it's work and the work of the district executive and staff. Motion made by David Petras Seconded by Ward Kelsey. MOTION APPROVED
The board will send a letter to the UUA board on UUA ends with concerns and suggestions for future changes. Debra Boyd and Rev. Rose Edington will form the task force and will present at the Jan OMD board meeting.
The board created task force to draft covenant between UUA, OMD, and DE. The task force consists of Sharon Eckert and Laura Howe and will present at the Jan OMD board meeting.
Financial Status:
- Overall in reasonable good shape. Fair Share giving is ahead of last year.
- Bank Account includes pending payment to Kenyon for Summer Institute.
District committees have budgets for their committee meetings (mileage, etc) and will have an event budget. There have been changes for event budgets over the past few years. We will create district policy for donations outside OMD and unused committee funds to be drafted by Rev. Rose Edington and Sharon Eckert. This will be brought to the Dec meeting.
***The resource development team recommends the November Chalice Lighter grant be awarded to two congregations in St. Lawrence district to recover from recent flooding. This supports our regional connections within CERG. Since there were no OMD Chalice Lighter grant applications, the board approves the Chalice Lighter grant being awarded to two congregations in St. Lawrence district to recover from recent flooding. Motion made by Sharon Eckert seconded by Laura Howe. MOTION APPROVED***
***The nominating committee has reviewed the district awards. The committee recommends changing the awards so that 2 district awards are given each year with a stipend for the winner(s). Current practice is 4 district awards with no stipend. Rising Star would continue to be a recognition (not an award). Motion to alternate district awards every two years with Visibility and Unsung Hero at 2012 District Assembly with $100 stipend for each award to be given to the congregation or cluster supporting the winner of the award made by Rev. Matt Alspaugh seconded by Rev. Rose Edington. MOTION APPROVED***

Gathered Here is an invitation to all UUs to discover our common aspirations and unleash the power of our faith through conversations that will take place over a 16 month period (July 2011 to Oct 2012). In December the OMD board will discuss our involvement in Gathered Here.
Phoenix Social Witness Project has been to 10 churches and Summer Institute with about $11,000 in pledges. David has been interviewed by Don Skinner for UU World. OMD is getting recognized by other districts for this program. The team is starting to get the scholarship forms created.
Board accepted August minutes by consent.
