Hosted by the Oberlin Unitarian Universalist Fellowship

Free and Open to All!

How do we make Sunday service flow so that the congregation can know and feel the theme we are trying to convey?  How do we use readings and stories and opening and closing words to support the sermon and not compete with it?   How do we make our Sunday mornings inclusive rather than exclusive in orientation?   And how do we work with the basic mechanics of public speaking so we know that all are able to hear and understand?

In this Saturday training, we will work with the practical mechanics, structure and theology of worship. We will look at how we create liturgy that includes humanists, theists, youth, elders, Democrats, Socialists and Republicans; and goes beyond our differences in age, sex, politics attitudes and lifestyles.

Youth interested in leading worship are strongly encouraged to attend and very much welcome at this training.

Rev. Joan Van Becelaere is the District Executive of the Ohio-Meadville District.  In addition to her MDiv and background in public policy analysis, she has a degree in Theatre and a background in Storytelling, and has been involved in creating liturgy and ritual with various formats in a wide variety of settings for over 25 years.
