Director of Religious Education
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Cleveland

The Unitarian Universalist Society of Cleveland, in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, is seeking a part time Director of Education. We are an active, growing community. Our DRE will work collaboratively with our minister, Rev. Colin Bossen and the Religious Education Committee to coordinate cirriculum for children, youth and adult religious education programs. Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion that encompasses many faith traditions. Unitarian Universalists include people who identify as Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Pagans, Atheists, Agnostics, Humanists, and others. We are a welcoming congregation which affirms all persons who choose to participate in the life or activities of our church, regardless of the person's color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental abilities or economic status.

Position:

Director of Religious Education, part-time (20 hours per week), including 2 Sundays per month.
Salary and benefits consistent with the Unitarian Universalist Association's Fair Compensation Guidelines.
$13 - $15 per hour, based on experience

Responsibilities include:

Work with RE committee and minister to plan intergenerational worship services.
Provide cirriculum planning and preparation for youth religious education.
With RE committee, develop a program to encourage total congregational participation through social responsibility projects, study groups, personal contacts, social affairs, workshops, etc.
With RE committee, plan intergenerational events.
Develop and coordinate a program for adult RE.

Qualified candidates should have:

Good organizational, administrative, supervisory and communication skills.
Ability to take initiative to network, coordinate volunteers and encourage others.
Able to demonstrate a knowledge of religious education (RE) philosophy and UU curricula while representing diverse religious views.
Computer proficiency
