Presented at the 2007 General Assembly in Portland, Oregon, to a standing-room-only audience, this play tells the story of a twenty-three- year-old American human
rights worker who was killed in March, 2003, by an Israeli military bulldozer while she was protecting the home of a Palestinian pharmacist and his family.
Your congregation could present “The Story of Rachel Corrie” as a way of raising awareness of and providing education about one of the most significant justice and human rights issues of our time—the oppressive military occupation of Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem. The script calls for only three actors, minimal props, and no set, making the play simple to perform. Presentation time is one hour. Details about how to obtain the script and the application are provided in this pdf file.
Madeline Izzo is a member of the First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania. The Ohio-Meadville District sponsored the performance of “The Story of Rachel Corrie” at the 2007 General Assembly.
