There are 12 established Unitarian Universalist congregations in western Pennsylvania associated with the Ohio-Meadville District.  Central and eastern Pennsylvania UU congregations, including Harrisburg and Philadelphia, are part of the Joseph Priestley District.

From Erie (east).  Take 1-90 west to exit 16, Fairview. Go right (north) on R. 98 to Fairview. Go left (west) on R. 20 to Girard. A little after the fourth red light, turn left on Myrtle Street. Go one block.
 
From Cleveland (west). Take I-90 to exit 9, Girard. Go left (north) on R. 18. At R.20 turn right (east). A little after first light turn right on Myrtle Street. Go one block.
 
From Meadville, Pittsburgh (south). Come up the I-79 to I-90.  Follow directions as from Erie.

Our new building is located on U.S. Route 30, approximately 1.5 miles east of the intersection of Route 30 and Route 711. (It is on the south side of the highway, immediately east of the Ligonier Valley Beach Pool and restaurant.) If you are approaching from west of Ligonier, continue east on the by-pass around Ligonier. If you are coming from north or south on Rt.711, turn east on Rt. 30 at the traffic light at Fort Ligonier. If approaching from the east, we are on the left (south) side of the road, about 2 miles past Laughlintown.

From Monroeville/Intersection of I-376 (Parkway East) and PA Turnpike (I-76) exit 6: Take Route 22 east 3 miles to the McDonald's in Murrysville. Turn left onto Vincent Hall Road (at the light), and go 3.2 miles north (turns into Sardis Road) through 2 stop signs then 0.5 miles past Murrysville Municipal Building. 4326 Sardis Road is our red brick church with white steeple on the left, with the parking lot just beyond the building.

The First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh is located in Pittsburgh's neighborhood of Shadyside.  The church is located at the corner of Morewood Avenue and Ellsworth Avenue approximately three blocks north of Carnegie Mellon University.

IN PITTSBURGH: Heading East on Forbes Ave. (from downtown through Oakland), pass the Cathedral of Learning (University of Pittsburgh) and The Carnegie Museum. Cross a short bridge and at the 2nd traffic light, turn left from Forbes onto Morewood Avenue. Go 2 more lights on Morewood to First Church. Parking is along the streets. Use the Ellsworth Avenue entrance to the church.

FROM THE NORTH: Take I-79 S to I-279 (after Wexford interchange); bear left onto I-279 and follow into Pittsburgh. With the skyscrapers in view, stay right and watch for I-579; bear right onto I-579 (up the double-lane ramp — DO NOT TAKE THE EAST ST. EXIT before it) and cross the Allegheny River. Stay in one of the two left lanes past the 6th Ave, and 7th Ave. exits. Get into the far right lane (OAKLAND); this will loop around and merge into the Blvd. of the Allies. Stay on the Blvd. For about 3 miles until AFTER you pass the Monroeville and I-376 exit. LOOK CAREFULLY, and take the very next off-ramp (it's easy to miss) onto Forbes Ave. (If you miss it, you can continue on and make a left on Halket St. and a right onto Forbes.) From here, follow directions above for IN PITTSBURGH.

FROM THE EAST: Take PA Turnpike (I-76) to Monroeville exit. Then I-376 to Oakland Exit. Take ramp up hill on Bates. Bates ends at Bouquet St. Turn left on Bouquet, take Bouquet to Forbes Ave. Turn right on Forbes and follow directions above for IN PITTSBURGH.

FROM THE SOUTH: Take I-79 N, EXIT 14 to Pittsburgh, I-279. As you come out of the Fort Pitt Tunnel onto the bridge, stay in one of the 2 right lanes and exit right to I-376, Monroeville (the Parkway East). Go approximately 3 miles, get into the far right lane and follow it up the ramp to Oakland-Forbes Ave. Follow directions above for IN PITTSBURGH.

FROM THE WEST: Take I-70 to I-79 North. Follow directions above for FROM THE SOUTH. FROM ROUTE 28: 28 N to EXIT 6 (Highland Park Bridge/Aspinwall). BEAR LEFT for bridge onramp. Cross bridge in the left lane, exit to left on 8 South (Washington Boulevard). Turn right at first traffic light onto Washington Boulevard (8 South). Travel through 5 traffic lights on Washington Boulevard, past the Driver's License Center. Cross Penn Avenue at 5th traffic light, and travel 3.9 miles. Turn right onto Morewood Avenue, and travel to the 2nd traffic light. First Unitarian Church is on the right. Street parking.

From the South:  Take I-79 North.  Exit #73 (Wexford, Route 910, Old Exit #22).  Right off ramp at light.  Right lane for immediate right turn at next light onto Brandt School Road.  Go approximately 2 1/2 miles to sign Route 19. North Park, Ambridge with orange arrow pointing right to "Unitarian Church."  Turn right onto Ingomar Road (green sign).  Pass (on right) Jenkinson, Bonnett, Kuhlview.  At mustard colored house, slow for sharp L curve, pass Bellwood Drive on right. After only one house, a brown wooden sign marks UUCNH driveway on right.  (You can't see the church.)  Down long driveway, turn right into parking lot.

From the North - Take I-79 South.  Exit #73 (Wexford, Route 910, Old Exit #22).  Left off ramp, into right lane.  Right at 2nd light onto Brandt School Road.  Follow directions from arrow above.  

From the PA Turnpike:  Exit #3 (Cranberry)  Beyond toll booth, right onto Route 19 South.  Go to I-79 South (Pittsburgh South, Wexford).  Follow direction above from North I-79.

Directions:

The church is located on Route 19 in Mt. Lebanon about a mile north of South Hills Village. A large white mansion, it is located on the right as you travel south on Route 19—1240 Washington Road.

From Downtown via the Liberty Bridge: Get in the left lane and continue through the Liberty Tunnel. Go south on Truck Route 19, West Liberty Avenue, which changes to Washing ton as you enter Mt Lebanon.

From Downtown via the Fort Pitt Bridge: Get in the right hand lane, continue through the tunnel. Take the first exit Banksville Road & go south on Route 19. Banksville ends as it forks at a light at McFarland (to the left) and Beverly Road (to the right). Bear left on McFarland and continue until it intersects with West Liberty Avenue. Turn right and continue south on Washington Rd.

From Route 79 North or South: Exit at Kirwan Heights (#12) . Turn right onto Route 50 and then turn left at the first light onto Vanadium Road. Continue on Vanadium until it intersects with Bower Hill Road. Turn left and continue on Bower Hill until it intersects with Cochran. Turn right on Cochran and take it to Washington Road. Turn right on Washington Rd.

From Route 51 South: Turn left onto Route 88. Continue to Castle Shannon Blvd. and turn right. Continue to the second light and turn left on Mt. Lebanon Blvd. Continue to the T-intersection and turn right on Washington Road and continue to the church which will be on your left.

Take PA Turnpike to New Stanton exit (East of Pittsburgh). Rt. 70 W. to Smithton exit #23 (approximately 8.3 miles). Turn left one block, turn left again onto road leading to Smithton.
