OMD Donation Programs
There are a number of ways you can donate to benefit the congregations and their members of the OMD.
The CERG UU Disaster Relief Fund is collecting to assist congregations affected by Hurrican Sandy
Money collected here will go one of two places:
1) To the UU Congregation of Greater Canton, who has experience approximately $30,000 worth of damage to their building due to roof damage during the storm and resulting water damage to the interior and equipment in the building.
2) To the relief efforts being supported by the UU Congregations on the East Coast, specifically for congregations who are opening their doors as shelters to assist them with the costs of food, blankets, flashlights, batteries, lanterns, otc medications, baby needs, tools for clean up, cleaning supplies, etc and to assist their congregants.
Thus far we know of no congregation on the East Coast that has sustained major damage, but we have not yet heard from all the congregations. If we hear of that sort of damage, we will add that to our list of donations.
The OMD Chalice Lighter Program consists of two parts. The Congregation or Cluster who need assistance with a growth based project who have submitted a grant application and been chosen to be the receipient of a call and the Individuals who agree to become "Chalice Lighters" and donate a minimum amount of money for each call up to four times a year.
