Denise DeArment
Denise DeArment is a member of the Urban Hope UU Congregation in Cleveland. She has led or co-led services at Urban Hope, Southwest UU, West Shore UU Church, Delaware UU and the UUC of Blanchard Valley (Findlay).

Titles of programs/sermons and a brief statement of content on each:
- Teachings from the Medicine Wheel - For many plains Native Americans, the Medicine Wheel is their fundamental teaching. It's beauty lies in the paradox of it's simplicity, as well as it's unfolding complexities. It encompasses teaching us about ourselves and how to become a whole and complete human being (aka a wise elder), the complexities of different perspectives, and the interdependent web (environmental issues). This service encompasses chants, a smudging ceremony, readings, symbolism, and stories to reveal it's basic teachings.
- Saying Yes Passionately- Originally done as a day-long church retreat of 6 to 8 hours, but can be done over 3 to 4 sessions of 1.5 to 2 hours for Cleveland-Akron area churches. Encompasses exercises and worksheets, small and large group discussions, meditation and singing designed to: stretch one's consciousness, in order to leave more intentionally; on a day-to-day basis and learn how to create balance in the "paradox of tensions" that can be caused by trying to meet both individual and community needs. Jean Morris Trumbauer's "Sharing the Ministry: A Practical Guide for Transforming Volunteers into Ministers" was the starting point for this program. 2 or 3 people from your congregation must agree to help with a day-long program. You'd just have to show up and help, no planning on your part.

Availability: Spring, Summer or Fall within 200 miles of Brunswick, OH.
Home Hospitality: Needed if more than 125 miles from the Cleveland area.
Fee arrangements: For the service - an actual exchange of pulpits or $50 if less than 125 miles from home and $65 is between 150-200 miles from home. For the workshop - $100.
