OMD Congregational Consultants and Liaisons
To help the congregations our district serves, we have created several different consultant and liaison programs. Members of our district volunteer to be trained to serve as consultants or liaisons in a variety of ways. In addition, we have three paid consultants, the program consultant for lifespan faith development, the youth ministries consultant and the young adult and campus ministry consultant. Please visit their pages to find out about the services they provide the district and our congregations.
Currently we have four types of lay consultants and liaisons:
- The ACT Team who work by invitation with individual congregations to resolve low level conflicts and to create behavioral covenants. The congregation pays a small honorarium and the OMD pays expenses.
- Congregational Consultants who work by invitation with individual congregations to provide workshops such as mission and vision writing, membership development or volunteer management, and to lead Board Retreats. The congregation pays a small honorarium and the OMD pays expenses.
- Religious Education Consultants are two religious educators who are trained to lead workshops related to religious education issues. To learn more about these consultants and their workshops, contact Karen Lapidus, Program Consultant for Lifespan Faith Development. When using these consultants, the congregation pays an honorarium of $250, the district pays expenses.
- Small Church Resource Liaisons work with all the small churches in a geographic cluster. They provide a link to the many resources the district and the UUA provide for congregations that smaller congregations might not know exist. These liaisons are assigned to specific churches. If your church has less than 150 members, you can find out who your assigned liaison is by contacting the district office or checking the district directory.
If your congregation is in need of a consultant for one or more of these areas, please contact the OMD Office for more information.
