The following congregations have been receipients of Chalice Lighter calls in the OMD. Congregations and clusters apply for a grant for a specific project. In exchange, congregations are required to provide us with reports and information about their project so we can report that to our congregations. These reports have been included in several OMD Up Close issues. (October 2011, March 2011)

  • The UU Church of Youngstown received a call to replace their rusting and outdated sign (2012)
  • Supporting our neighbors to the north, a call to benefit the UU Congregation in Binghamton and the UU Church of Athens and Sheshequin in the St. Lawrence District to help them recover from flood damage resulting from 2 tropical storms and a hurricane was granted (2011)
  • First UU Church, Columbus OH receive a grant to help jump start their Campus Ministry Program - FOCUUS - which they are hoping will serve as a model for other congregations to emulate (2011)
  • UU Congregation, Charleston, WV received a grant to help fund their Gateway to Hospitality program intended to repair and improve their entrances to the congregation's building and property. (2011)
  • UU Fellowship of Morgantown, WV recieved a grant to jump start their Campus Ministry program at West Virginia University (2011).
  • UU Congregation of the Ohio Valley recieved a grant to expand their fellowship hall space in their building (2010).
  • First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh received a grant to support the new multicultural outreach ministries being supported by their new Associate Minister (2010).
  • Smithton UU Congregation received a grant to purchase multi-media equipment for use in their outreach, campus ministry, and adult RE (2010).
  • Northwest Cluster of UU Churches received a grant to do marketing and outreach through public radio and google ads (2010).
  • Southwest UU Church recieved a grant to purchase a new sign and do outreach to the community they purchased a building in. (2009)
  • Olmsted UU Church received a grant to partially fund waterproofing their basement and removing mold from their basement rooms (2009)
  • UU Society of Cleveland received a grant to partially fund hiring a membership coordinator (2009).
  • UU Fellowship of Athens received a grant to rebuild their entrance way and deck and regrade their parking lot to make it ADA compliant. (2009)
  • Oberlin UU Fellowship recieved a grant to purchase signs to put up in town and to do a marketing survey of their area (2008).
  • South Hills received a grant to assist them with their ministerial transition (2008).
  • New River UU Fellowship received a grant to intall an new sign and hire a very part time publicity person (2008).
  • All Souls UU Congregation received a grant to hire their first minister in their history. (2008)
  • The West Virginia Cluster of UU Churches received a grant for NPR sponsorship for six months (2006).
  • UU Church of Kent received a grant for renovation work (2005).
  • Ginger Hill UU Congregation received a grant to repair and upgrade their new building in Slippery Rock.
  • UU Fellowship of Ligonier Valley received a grant to have a sign designed and placed outside.
