Two different groups oversee youth programming in the OMD.

The District Staff plan and oversee trainings and other youth related activities such as Leadership Development Conference (LDC), Spirituality Development Conference (SDC), Chaplain Training, Youth Advisor Training, some Cluster events and trainings and Youth Work Camp. Some of these events are done in conjunction with our neighboring districts or the Central East Regional Group. District Assembly youth programming is overseen by the District Assembly Planning Team with assistance from the district staff and input from YAC. All of these trainings and events can be found on the OMD Calendar and you can find information once registration opens under the OMD Events menu. Information on District Assembly programming can be found on the District Assembly pages.

A list of this year's trainings and events as currently planned is included below for your convenience:

July 7-13, 2013 Youth Service Learning Experience in Appalachia ages 14-19

 Pipestem, WV

We are currently accepting applications for a Youth Co-Dean for the Youth Service Learning Experience in Appalachia.

I envision the 2013 Youth Service trip to WV to be slightly different than the 2012 trip in one key way. I would like last year's attendees to select 2 youth to serve as co-deans. These youth would be responsible for matters like: arranging chore distribution, wake up, help in setting up food procedures for snacks, etc, responding to any rule violations or behavior outside of covenant, and assisting, with the lead adult, in creating an inclusive intergenerational community that supports youth empowerment and includes adult participation.

Co-deans' responsibilities will start before the trip itself and could include email conversations and conference calls to plan how to intentionally form community and to iron out details. Obviously phone calls and such will be scheduled around everyone's availability.

If you are interested in being a co-dean, please complete this form by February 19th. Your answers will be shared with the other youth so they can help select the best co-deans for 2013.

Thank you for considering this important leadership position!!
