District Doings is Changing!
This is the last newsletter style version of the District Doings you will be receiving. Beginning in August, we will start a new combine District Doings and the Congregational Packet series that will combined the best of both publications and be sent out once a month in electronic format. This will help us be environmentally sound, decrease our carbon footprint, and allow us to save on printing and postage costs.
On the first of each month, subscribers to our general email list will received an email titled "OMD Now!" which will take the place of the monthly packet. This document will be very similar to what you currently receive by email and contain announcements of events, workshops, registrations and important information from the UUA, the district and groups we partner with. The deadline for this mailing will continue to be the 25th of the previous month (except in December).
Then, on the 15th of each month, a second publication, titled "OMD Up Close!", will be emailed. It will provide in-depth stories or collections of shorter stories on themes of congregational interest. One month might feature social justice projects in our congregations; another month might focus on youth or young adult events and future plans. The district staff will coordinate this publication's stories.
For those who need printed copies instead of email, we will send a single mailing the first week of each month that contains the current "OMD Now!" and the previous month's "Up Close!" These will be printed in a standard document format. Please contact the district office to let us know if you want to receive these publications in hard-copy format.
The district extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Mary Huffman who has been the layout editor for District Doings for many years and has so kindly continued in this capacity after her retirement.
