Central East Regional Group (CERG) Events
Up until very recently, our four-district consortium (St. Lawrence, Metro NY, Joseph Priestly and Ohio-Meadville Districts) was known as NRG - New Regional Group or Northern Regional Group. But our regional group is no longer new and we aren't really north since our region includes Maryland and part of Virginia, including Washington DC.
We thought of all kinds of inspiring and catchy names, but we were specifically asked to make our name geographic like the other UUA regional groups. That made it a bit more difficult.
This December, when the presidents from the four districts met with the four district executives, we settled on Central East Regional Group -- CenEast or CERG (pronounced "surge")
We thought that CERG was fitting since we are currently making plans on how we might surge ahead in creating new and exiting ways of sharing resources across district lines for the benefit of all of our congregations.
Please welcome CERG and CenEast to your growing list of Unitarian Universalist acronyms.
