Supporting the OMD
Are you interested in advancing Unitarian Universalism beyond your congregation? Do you want to be part of something bigger? There are several ways you can get involved at the district level.
- To support and assist the district by providing your time and talents, you can volunteer for various committees. Interested? Then email the office and we'll be glad to talk to you. What kinds of Committees do we have?
- Event Planning Committees that plan district sponsored events and activities such as Summer Institute, WomenSpirit, Winter Institute, Mens Retreat and the District Assembly.
- Supportive Committees that provide support and training for religious educators (Lifespan Faith Development), commissioned lay leaders and candidates (Commissioned Lay Leaders), and lay leadership (Leadership Development).
- Advising Committees who help the board by advising them on a variety of issues such as: the Finance Committee and the Resource Development Team who deal with Chalice Lighter grants, Friends of the OMD, District Dues and APF Dues.
- Age Specific Committees that plan activities and trainings for those in certain age brackets such as the Youth Adult Committee (YAC) and the UU Young Adult Network (UUYAN).
- Social Justice Committee, who helps our congregations network on social justice issues as well as keeping our congregations up-to-date with what is going on at the UUA.
- Volunteer for an elected position, such as an officer or board member or nominating committee member. The nominating committee is responsible for finding people to run for elected positions. You can find out about specific openings by visiting the Nominating Committee Page.
- To provide financial support for the district and it's congregations you can be:
- A Chalice Lighter - a special subscription program to provide grants to our congregations who have special projects.
- A Friend of the Ohio-Meadville District - a special program for those who want to provide financial support at a level above their congregation.
