The Ohio-Meadville District accepts donations for several different funds:

Friends of the OMD is a program for individuals to support the work of the Ohio-Meadville District beyond their congregation's fair share. This program recognizes individual's donations to various levels. Currently we have three levels - Friends of the OMD ($25-49); Partners of the OMD ($50-99) and Covenant Circle ($100 and up). Friends money is part of the OMD operating budget and helps the board and staff to provide programming and support for our congregations and clusters. To learn more about the Friends of the OMD program or make a donation, please visit the Friends pages.

Chalice Lighters is a program where members who subscribe donate four times a year to a "call" to support a congregation's or cluster's project. Projects vary in their scope and impact. Some are improvements on physical buildings, others are for marketing and outreach campaigns, and more. To learn more about the chalice lighter program, to read about the current call and donate, or to learn how to apply for a grant form this program please visit the chalice lighter pages under the program menu.

Special Collections. Periodically the District collects money designated for a specific project. In some cases, this money has been to benefit congregations who have had a crisis, such as flooding or other natural disaster hit, in other cases, the money is intended to underwrite specific project that does not have budget support. The special collections we are currently collecting for are listed below. In addition, collections to benefit congregations outside of our district who have been hit with a natural disaster are listed on our UUA Appeals page under the news menu.

  • Phoenix Witness Fund to benefit getting people from the OMD to Justice GA in Phoenix, AZ in 2012. This fund is currently accepting donations and pledges. We are asking for pledges to be paid by April 1 so we can award money to those who apply to go to Phoenix in June. For details about the fund and to donate, please visit the Phoenix Witness Fund page.

Scholarships are our way of making it possible for those who cannot afford to attend district events get the leadership training and experience they need to help their congregations grow and flourish. We currently have three scholarship funds:

  • The District Assembly and Conference Scholarship Fund provides funds for those who are economically disadvantaged members of district congregations to attend trainings in the district and in some cases, the Central East Region. Examples of trainings this fund can be used for include: Renaissance Modules, Our Whole Lives Trainings, Chaplain Training, Basic Youth Advisor Training, District Assembly, Anti-Racism Trainings, and Stewardship Training. The current policy allows for a full scholarship less $5 for events under $50 in fee and a half scholarship for events over $50 in fee. Applications are available from the district office. Deadlines are posted with each event and usually coincide with early bird registration deadlines. To donate, please fill in the information below.
