What Is YAC?
YAC stands for Youth Adult
Committee; the governing body of YRUU in the Ohio-Meadville District.
So what does YAC do?
YAC is responsible for
planning and running 4 youth conferences a year: a senior high conference and a
junior high conference in the fall, a senior high social action conference in
the winter, and a combined junior/senior high conference in the spring. in order
for a junior higher to attend the spring conference, he or she must have already
attended a junior high conference.
How can I join YAC?
Well, for starters, you
have to be a youth from the Ohio-Meadville District who's at least 13 years old.
It would probably help if you've attended at least one district youth
conference, but if not- you'll get the experience of helping to plan one at a
YAC meeting. Oh, that's another thing- once you've attended 2 (count 'em, TWO!)
YAC meetings (not counting the ones immediately after a youth conference), you
can "sign the book" and become an official YAC member. Yeehaw!
What is YRUU and OMD?
OMD stands for
Ohio-Meadville District. The continent is divided up into districts. OMD
contains Western PA, Eastern OH and WV. YRUU stands for Young Religious
Unitarian Universalists.
Who can go to Cons?
Junior High Conferences are
for youth in grades 7th-9th. Senior High Conferences are for youth from grade 9
to age 19 years old. All age range conferences are for everyone.
How many Cons are there?
OMD YRUU has four
conferences every year: a Jr. High Fall Con, a Sr. High Fall Con, a Sr. High
Social Action Con in the winter, and a All Age Range Spring Con.
How do I go?
Every youth must have an adult
sponsor at the conference (an adult can sponsor 6 youth at a Jr. High Con and 8
at a Sr. High Con.) Adult sponsors are 25+ years old.
